This is in the USA alone, in the USA as a whole it was only released in 3 theatres. (minimal release = less money) however was released on Demand. (apart of how we have changed the way we view things at home etc.) this film will make most of it money through on demand release at £6.99 in the UK. It will also gain money through word of mouth and additionally because Ryan Gosling is using his fame as an Actor etc. to promote the film.

Matt Smith (Bully) - Matt Smith was chosen by Ryan when he was writing the script and over heard him making a speech on Doctor Who (the worlds longest running Sci-Fi TV show 1963- present) in the episode 'The Pandorica Opens' (series 5 episode 12). Ryan said that he hasn't seen another actor like him and the way he took control of the whole scene is the reason he wanted him to play 'Bully'. He has starred in; Doctor Who, Womb/Clone, Terminator: Genisys, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Matt Smith also improvised the scene where a lady is at the gas station with him and he is asking her, her name. The lady was originally from that town in Detroit.
Christina Hendricks (Billy) - she has been known for Drive which also starts Ryan Gosling, Mad Men, Ginger and Rosa, Life As We Know It.
Iain De Caestecker (Bones) - He is known for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Filth, The Little Vampire and Not Another Happy Ending (independent Scottish film) which also stars Karen Gillan, Matt Smiths Companion in Doctor Who (2010-2012).
Saoirse Ronan (Rat) - She is known for The Lovely Bones, Hanna, The Grand Budapest Hotel (awards) How I Live Now, The Host (bit of a flop just made over its total budget) and Atonement.
Ben Mendelsohn (Dave) - He is known for The Dark Night Rises, Killing Them Softly, Exodus: Gods and Kings and The Place Beyond the Pines. The scene where his character 'Dave' is dancing whilst Christina Hendricks character 'Billy' is in a contained unit was completely improvised by him. "He walked in with an IPad and played some music and said Role the cameras"-Ryan Gosling.
Eva Mendes (Cat) - She is Ryan Goslings Girlfriend, she is known for Hitch, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Place Beyond the Pines (Ben Mendelsohn) and The Other Guys.
Other Facts
Ryan gosling attended the Cannes film festival to promote this film in 2014.
Was originally titled 'How to Catch a Monster' but was then retitled to 'Lost River' as it made more sense as it is the name of the town its based in.
It is filmed in Detroit, Ryan Gosling chose to film her as he grew up in Canada and this is where he had a fantasy image of the USA until he went there when he was 30 and realised it wasn't like that. He then decided that he wanted to make a film about all of the abandoned towns and began over the course of a year filming locations. The film took approximately 3 years to develop and officially finish.
He thought that a fairy tale would be great way to start is directing career (risky as they have not been popular lately). Ryan had thought about making a film before but the actual film was never picked up.
It is Dark because he said he was always interested in this sort of area because as a child his mother used to take him to grave yards to play whilst she read the tomb stones.
A lot of the footage for the film was cut out and not in the final product. When they got to Detroit they had to adapt some of the plans and story boards because it was different when they got there.
Additionally they did a competition on the movie posters for Lost River.
